Maria Gikas joined Campbell & Company as an Administrative Assistant to the Executive Search and Finance teams in 2019. A lifelong patron of the arts, Maria understands the transformative power of nonprofit organizations and is thrilled to support a cause that has so deeply resonated with her throughout her life. Maria is proud to be part of Campbell & Company’s Executive Search team, ranked one of the nation’s Top 10 search firms for women of color by Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy (WOC)® two years in a row and one of the country’s best executive search firms for four years by Forbes Magazine.
New to Chicago, Maria’s career began in Central Florida as an opera singer and adjunct professor for Stetson University. She has toured along the Eastern United States and performed with various opera companies including Vero Beach Opera, St. Augustine Opera, and Stetson University’s Opera Theater. Through her painstaking role as a voice professor, Maria developed a nuanced approach to unlocking potential and quashing self-doubt.
Prior to joining Campbell & Company’s Chicago office, Maria worked for Ferrovial Services as a Project Administrator where she processed all employee actions, including transfers, vacations, promotions, bonuses, pay adjustments, and terminations. In her role at Ferrovial Services, Maria gained crucial time management skills and proficiency in various software programs which she brings to her role at Campbell & Company.
Maria is passionate about linguistics and the cultures they represent. She speaks seven languages and spends her free time practicing her crafts or reading opera librettos. Maria graduated from Stetson University with a BA in Opera Performance. She also holds a certification in Chemotherapeutic Pharmacy.
