Akilah, a Marwen alumna, was appointed Executive Director in October 2018. Previously, she served as Marwen’s Deputy Director (April 2017-October 2018) and a member of the Board of Trustees (2010-2017). Akilah’s experience spans K-12 public education, arts programming, community engagement, communications, and philanthropy with past roles at Crown Family Philanthropies, Urban Gateways, and Chicago Public Schools. She currently serves as the Co-Chair for the Chicago African Americans in Philanthropy and a member of the Leadership Advisory Committee at the Art Institute of Chicago.
