ICL has a strong track record of advocacy, keeping citizens informed and empowered and bringing together diverse constituent groups to champion conservation policy.
After celebrating its 40th anniversary, ICL wanted to enhance its ability to address climate change, build its capacity for the future, and solidify its place as a conservation leader for generations to come.
ICL planned to accomplish these objectives through its first campaign since 1998 and sought expert guidance from a consulting partner.
In 2014, we began working with ICL to conduct a campaign planning study, helping to define its case for support around four key initiatives: water, energy, endowment, and an opportunity fund.
We also focused on helping ICL strengthen its identity as a philanthropic priority throughout Idaho. Following our recommendation for a $4 million campaign, ICL launched the “It’s My ID Campaign.”
Throughout this process, we continued our partnership, providing campaign counsel that included planning, benchmarking, case development, and donor engagement strategies.
"Donors actually gave at high levels—just like the planning study indicated!"
– Suki Molina, Deputy Director, Idaho Conservation League
ICL exceeded its $4 million goal by 22 percent and officially concluded the “It’s My ID Campaign” in May 2017 at its annual Wild Idaho conference.
In addition to exceeding its financial goal, ICL increased its visibility, strengthened its organizational capacity to tell its story, and engaged more supporters in advocacy efforts.
Overall, the campaign positioned ICL for increased impact over the next 40 years and beyond.
